January 2024 Update - Bluebell Walk

Twenty four charities are now signed up to cover the dates we will be open this year, 12 April - 14 May. See the website for the complete schedule.

New leaflet

We are redesigning our leaflet this year so it is in fact two separate leaflets, one for Bates Green Garden, one for the Bluebell Walk, but designed to be displayed together. The final design of the garden leaflet has now been agreed and is ready to go to print, but the Bluebell Walk copy is still in draft form!  Both will be available on the websites and distributed in many outlets.

Photographic Competition

The prize winners of the 2023 Photographic Competition were all sent their certificates and prizes, just in time for Christmas.  This year we have used the same design for the certificates as for the large display boards you see at the Bluebell Walk.  Below are the First Prize winners in each of the 5 categories.  All winning entries, 1st, 2nd and Highly Commended, can be seen in the online gallery at www.bluebellwalk.co.uk/photos or wait until you visit and see all the images on the wall adjacent to the Gate House.

Bluebell Barn Café

The major expansion of the Bluebell Walk kitchen is finally waiting for the decorator and electrician to finish off.  The popular Arlington Church plant stall will now move from the Bluebell Barn, into what was the Animal Pen, with the animals having a new home nearby.  To help the duty charity, we are introducing restaurant pagers, so visitors are able to collect their order from a new serving hatch, which should speed food orders being prepared.

And what of this year’s bluebells? I now find that in just a week these early plants have emerged. Although this seems early, they are less advanced than a year ago.
