As I write this, the Garden Team are preparing for our End of Season party. This is an event we hold every year for the Friends of Arlington Bluebell Walk & Bates Green Garden and is our way of saying THANK YOU for all the support and encouragement we have received during our 2023 Open Season. The Barn is currently being decked with bunting by Alex and Harriet.
We will also be saying ‘Au Revoir’ to our fabulous WRAGS student Alex, who has been an absolute star in the Garden for the past 12 months. Alex is planning to develop her obvious skills in Garden Design, but we all think that she also has a promising career in floristry ahead of her. We are grateful to her for her enthusiasm, positivity and ability to smile during the worst weather! |
The winter months are our opportunity to dismantle various beds and borders on the Garden. This is a welcome chance to go through the beds and decide which plants to split, remove, cut back, move or leave. We can then pop bulbs in between groups of herbaceous perennials and finish with a satisfying layer of home-grown mulch.
We will also work on our 2024 Garden leaflet and finalise our programme of Study Mornings. The Garden may be closed but us gardeners will be busier than ever…..
Enjoy November, the weather may be bleak but there is so much one can do in the garden during this month that will reap rewards come the Spring.
